I personally use Herpstat thermostats from Spyder Robotics. They get the job done.

Im not trying to be mean or rude but asking such a question right after you were spouting off about be able to care for a alligator or crocodile shows that you are in no way ready. I know you said you are going to get a caiman but it appears to me you need to get your feet firmly planted in what you currently have before uping the game.

    As to the question.

You need a thermostat (tstat) and I too love Herpstat. I have four of them and love them all.

Vivarium Electronics also makes good thermostats. The basic model is under $100.

Just because these devices have many settings doesn't mean you have to use them all. You can wire it up, set the temp and leave it at that.

There is no reason why a person keeping any animal like a snake or lizard should not know what a thermostat is. I know many lizards require a very warm basking spot but I bet that many lizard keepers use tstats to be safer too.

Use Google or for even better help read threads here and learn how to use our Search function. Almost everything has been asked and it's all there to be found.

I'm not trying to pick on you and I am trying to help you and any animal you may own in the future.
