    thermometer placement
hi, in my set up, sterilite containers, i have accurite thermometers, i was wondering where i should place the probe itself, right now i have it on the bottom of the enclosure underneath the substrate to monitor the hottest spot in the enclosure, and the thermometer itself monioring the cold side. But now i have no clue how to monitor the warm side on top of the substrate, should i move the probe?
    thanks

    No.

You want to monitor the hottest place in the tub. How you have it is the correct way. The layer of substrate should be very thin so the difference between the bottom of the tub and the top of the layer of substrate should not be very different.

The t-stat probe should go between the UTH and the bottom of the tank, not inside the tank. The problem with putting it inside is that your snake can move it off the heat pad, dump its water bowl, pee on it, etc. all of which will cause the UTH to run too hot.

    Thermometer not TSTAT.
