Different growths

I wanted to give a very good example of how different snakes grow from each other.

This is Echo my cinnamon yellowbelly. She was born August 2, 2014. Today she weighs 829g.

This is Rain, my Mojave. She was born August 22, 2014. Today she weighs 189g.

Rain (Mojave) would not eat as baby and was being tube fed by the SPCA's vet. At 4 months old she finally ate a live ASF for the first time but she would still only eat once or twice a month. At 7 months she was finally showing more interest in food. She now eats successfully once every 5 days. Se should bulk up pretty quick but this is a pretty good example of different growths in BP (and pretty much all other snakes out there). I adopted her and was amazed at her extremely small size, almost not believing the age the SPCA told me. The SPCA "guy" showed me charts of Rain's siblings. (Apparently the mother was a surrender and was egg bound. The SPCA has no information on the sire so who know what this little girl is full of). The siblings were much bigger then her even at hatching. She 36g when she hatched while her siblings ranged from 60-90g. But there you go. She is very healthy now and is growing like a weed. When I got her (last month), she was 126g.

Wow, it definitely shows tenacity on your part to nurse her back health. They both look great, keep it up! ;)

Thank you .She was pretty healthy when I got her (besides being so small). The SPCA here is very good and takes in hundreds of reptiles a year. They never adopt out animals until they are healthy and have a no kill policy unless the animal is dying or is in extreme pain with no chance to recover. They had this girl before she was even laid and kept her until she was 8 months old and finally put her up for adoption in April. I did adopt her for more then she is worth though, but totally worth it me.

Cool comparison of one extreme to the other.
As it happens my male Butter was also hatched on 8/2/14 and now he weighs 776 grams as of yesterday. My female Mojave was hatched 8/4/14 and now weighs in at 787 grams as of 6/2/15. I usually try to grab weights on everyone at the beginning of each month.

I try to grab weights the first week of a month the day before OR a few days after feeding day. This is kind of iffy because all my snakes under 500g get fed once every 5 days while my other snakes get fed once a week and my males at 1000g+ get fed once every 10 days so it is extremely dependent on when everyone has an empty belly. (Weighing a snake with a medium rat in it's belly kinda feels like cheating lol). But yea, people are very worried when snakes are not eating and growing. In this case it may have been a little more extreme with Rain having to be tube fed. But it really goes to show that depending on the snake, how it eats, its birth weight, and the list goes on that can effect a snakes size.

Wow, that is pretty big for a snake under a year old. My one year old (born May 2014) pied has just weighed in at 1041g.

Yea I know she's my weed lol the only one I have had that is just growing fast but she does go off food for a week or too at a time but then she's right back to eating medium rats
