    Clown mix?
I was told when I bought this little guy that he was a normal clown mix. Mom was a clown, apparently. Any markings that give it away? I didn't really care one way or another. I love my little Joker no matter what. In just not up to speed with all the morphs. Let me know. Thx for any opinions.

Probably a normal het for clown. The snake carries the clown gene but appears normal..

There aren't any guaranteed ways to tell visually that he's het clown (not a "clown mix" - het means he is carrying the clown gene). If the breeder is reliable, and knows the pairing that produced him, then the het is as good as his word.

You get het clowns by pairing a visual clown to a non-visual clown:
    Male:
    Female:
    Normal
    Percent Fraction Traits
    100% 1/1 Het Clown

Cool. Thx, as always. Still some sick markings on him. Great temperament too.

There was a pretty recent thread on this topic actually. Nothing is 100%, but there are a few traits that tend to be influenced when they are in fact het Clown.

Here it is so you can check it out: What gives away a het. Clown

IF they specifically told you clown mix and not HET clown I bet it would be safe to say its a normal and not a 100% het clown.

If they are breeding clowns I would like to think they would know correct terms.

I would have to agree. Only way to know for sure is to breed him to a female clown in the future and see if he proves out but if you're not interested in breeding at least you do have a pretty cool looking normal there. :gj:
