Update on Howard: the unbelievably thin snake
I took my itty bitty ball of sickness to the vet today. We were at the office for nearly 3 hours! There is no definite diagnosis for what is wrong with him, but he is being treated now for the severe dehydration and starvation.

Howard will be only two on July 22nd and I am doing everything in my power to make sure he sees that day.

The vet prescribed antibiotics in the form of injections that I will be giving him once every three days. I also will be feeding him through a tube twice a day. As for the redness, the antibiotic should help some as the doctor believes it to be some sort of bacteria related dermatitis.

At this point we are not positive that Howard will live to see this all through, the doctor thinks that line may be passed, but we are going to everything in our power to help him.

The doctor advised me to put him in the hospital, but unfortunately I don't have the money to do that, this is the best I can do for this little guy. Thanks again to everybody who gave me advice last night. I'm so glad I got him in to be seen today.

Edit: OH, and he weighed in at just 122g

I had a year old BP that had only been fed about 4 meals before I got her. She was a sad 79 grams. She was fed and put in a proper enclosure but unfortunately passed within the week. I'm going to cross my fingers that this guy makes it for you and you don't.

Good move going to the vet and getting a professional opinion! Kudos to you. Make sure to warm the fluids going in through the tube feedings. Best of luck. I feel positive about his chances. :gj:

Glad you got him to the vet. He's apparently made it for two years like that, so hopefully he'll be able to recover.

Thanks for the update and for taking such quick action! I really hope this guy pulls through, when I read the other thread this morning I was really worried about his long term prospects but now I would say that his odds have improved greatly. Thanks for taking care of him.
