Second time lucky. Advice?
Okay so last week i had to return my lovely normal girl because she was loosing weight not eating and very small, she was 8 months old and 84g... bad i know. Her name was Akira and it was sad to see her go.. ive been looking around for a new one and im meeting a guy on tuesday to get my new boy does his weight sound healthy, hes 7months old and 243g hes a pastel and eats every 6 days on rat fluffs soon to be weaners, does that sound good? And also i have rat pups left from akira should i feed the new boy 2 of those at the same time to make up for not having fluffs or should i feed him twice a week? I dont want to stop him eating?? This pic was akira

Sorry the first little one didn't work out for you. :( What is your BP set-up like?

I would recommend buying from someone who really knows BPs to avoid getting snakes that are sick. I bought all 8 of mine from reputable breeders and have had zero problems with any of them.

Seven months seems a little old to be that low of a weight... I would look for a seven month old that was more like 500-700g.

I agree that at 7 months that seems a little low for weight but then again they all seem to have different growth rates. I think it's fairly common for people to put them on a maintenance feeding schedule which is perhaps underfeeding them a tad so they stay small. This cuts down on costs and as mentioned keeps them small.
Good luck with this new one I hope it works out for you.

It's true with the different growth rates. I bought my guy at around 60 grams, and now at 6/7 months he's 350 grams. Never had any issues and he's got a great feeding response, just small:)

If your asking he seems a little light. I would be more cautious if I just lost one. Peace.

Where did you return her to and how long did you have her? I apologize if you've already made posts about that, but I haven't seen them. I can't really tell, but it sounds like you may be getting these animals from petstores? If so, you're getting animals that are at best highly stressed.

What's your setup like? I assume you're feeding f/t?

Also, if your new one won't take the smaller prey you may have to just buy the size he's used to eating. Many snakes will refuse prey that's a lot smaller than what they're used to because it doesn't seem worth the energy it'd take to catch it.
