I got my first bp, (yellowbelly) Jack, almost two weeks ago. After doing very thorough research and visiting my brother's snakes, I learned that bps are notorious for being picky eaters. Jack didn't eat when I first offered, which I attributed to him moving into a new home. It was still disappointing. Then, an opportunity for me to get two new guys came up yesterday, and I couldn't pass it up. The piebald, Flagg, is deep in shed, so I didn't really expect him to eat; disappointed, but not surprised. The Spinnerblast, Steve, is underweight and supposedly very picky. I didn't expect him to eat either, and he didn't, at first. So I left the rat in there while we went out for a bit. I came home to find Steve using the rat as a pillow, but looking very intent. So, I took the rat out and blow dried the head. All the while, Steve watched me, wobbling more as I approached his cage with the rat. It only took about 30 seconds, and he hit it! Of course, his wobble made him veer off course mid-strike and hit the tail; The poor guy tried to coil around the tail. I puppeteered the rat to "run" back towards his body, and when he felt it nudging him, he coiled around it, with his death grip still on the tail. I left him to his business, and came back to him with a huge lump sliding down his throat. :D Even though it was only a 1 out of 3 success, I'm glad it was my skinny guy that took his meal!
