Ugh!!! I am so OVER these storms. I'm in south Dallas county, but it seems like at least half the state is flooded.... And the tornadoes: I've lost count of them all. About 50 minutes ago, while trying to fall asleep, I heard suspicious winds. So I checked it out. Yup, rotation overhead!! Less than ten minutes later, a tornado warning was issued. Aaaaaand, now I can't sleep....

I had to dig a trench through my back yard because it was flooding, it had taken all it could. I had to also pump four inches of water out of my koi pond from one afternoon and its not a small pond. It has really been coming down.

Woke up in the middle of the night to the sound of my phone freaking out due to emergency alerts (which I cannot opt out of -.-) and the tornado siren going off down the road. After that quieted down, it was the thunder and lightning keeping me up. This whole time my husband was sleeping like a baby, of course (he's also slept through every earthquake out here that's happened at night).

Been a weird year here for weather and natural disasters, hasn't it?

Its in your settings unless there are other warnings you want to receive.

I was up most of the night with two chicken-bulls shaking at every crack of thunder.

I've already turned them all off in settings so at least it doesn't give me every warning across the metroplex, but I can't turn off alerts for my immediate area or amber alerts. I'm trying to mess with the weather app settings now (it's a galaxy s5, btw).

My dogs defense mechanism to the thunder is to sit on my head. I guess that's where he feels safest, but a 40 pound furball attempting to sit on you isn't my favorite way to wake up.

I have the S5 too. I use The Weather Channel app. Under setting you can select your alerts. I had the same issue waking me up but it was my S5, Gear S, and my and my wife's Nokia 980 all going off with alerts. It was crazy. I turned them off on the Nokia, reduced them on the S5, and muted my Gear S. Im a heavy sleeper too and actually slept through a tornado once but all the device going off was enough to wake me up.

Yup, I've got an 80 and 60 pounder on top of me panting and drooling heavyily for 6-10 hrs at a time. I'm going many days with little to zero sleep. This has been going on average every 3 out of 5 days for the past 2 months or more out here in East Texas. :taz:

Down here in louisiana flooding is just part of life! I used to think i would do anything to get out of this humid hell...but after working up north I would not change louisiana for anything, i guess i am just southern born and breed but i love everything from the humidity to the alligators...i mean were else can you walk down the road and be at multiple huge waterways to fish or just sightsee.

If I ever left Texas, which I don't see happening, Louisiana sure would be at the top of the list! Great country and great folks! :)
