    Thoroughly Unimpressed
Finally got around to taking some videos off the old flip phone tonight. None of my females were very eager breeders this year but the males were enthusiastic enough to get all but this one to produce viable clutches at least. She remained almost comically adamant in her refusal to be courted.

He was a gentleman too, never went for the head grab to force a female. Either won them over the old fashioned way or failed in his attempts.

That was funny. :) Was the female patternless? At what age/size are they ready to breed? Best wishes for great clutches!

She's a 2008 patternless, trumbower hypo, het albino, het whitesided, het axanthic. I picked her up at the end of last Summer and am not at all surprised she didn't produce. I put the male with her more to get her attuned to my schedule than anything. I'm hoping 1 full cycle here will get her on track but won't be surprised if she takes 2-3 years as I only do a quasi-cooling with the colubrids here. She was an established, breeding adult that now has to adjust to a whole new system; could take a while.

I personally wouldn't pair a pituophis less than 3 years old. Last year my two females were at the 3 year mark and I just managed to get 1 good clutch of 10 eggs. To be fair, I grow my snakes a bit slower than most folks. This year the same two females each laid 18 perfect eggs and one just double clutched for additional 9 pearly whites. It's looking like the other girl is building for a double clutch as well. They really haven't grown a great deal since last year - at least not in comparison to previous years - so I'm thinking 4 is a good age to start producing nice sized, healthy clutches with females.
