Feeding: strike and release?
Boots just shed yesterday and I brought home a rat for him. He coiled up and hit it pretty quickly, but then immediately let it go! Its ear is bleeding and he's just ignoring it. What just happened?

I'm not so sure. That's a very small medium. He usually eats large :/

How big is he? I'd even say a medium is too big for him. Most males will thrive on small rats their entire life. Live large rats are very capable of defending themselves and will do some pretty decent damage to a BP.

Maybe...? I think 1800g [emoji14] now that you mention it, he fed steadily on small rats and stopped when I switched
