    Heat Tape Dying?
Yesterday, i noticed that my thermostat was saying my BPs heat tape was 130F. I quickly turned the heat off and replaced the thermostat. I thought the thermostat was the problem. I plugged it back in and the thermostat was saying 120F. Its not lowering my temps. They keep climbing even though the thermostat isnt telling it to heat up. Its set to 87F right now. Is my heat tape dying?

Did you check the thermostat temp probe? Perhaps it needs replacing or came loose? Someone else recently had a temp probe issue that caused false readings that were unusually high.

Do you have a backup thermostat to try swapping out?

Your thermostat regulates the heat source.
Sounds like that thermostat failed as long as the probe is in a good spot.
Have you checked the heat tape with a thermometer?
What is the temp of the tape with the other thermostat?

The tape at the back where the cables are is 84 and the temp in her hide is 90-100. This is a brand new thermostat that I just took out the package yesterday. The old thermostat did the same thing yesterday. The probe is in the right spot and the temp is set to 87. The thermostat says it isnt heating but the temp keep climbing
