    Rat pup
What is the size of a rat pup? The breeder i got mine from said feed he rat pups. I got a rat pup and a few mice. My two that haven't eaten since i got them finally ate a mouse. It just seem like that rat pup might be too big. She is 200 and something grams. She might just not be used to me here yet since i just got her and is stalling on eating. I just got to keep rat pup till next weekend.

    Rat fuzzie: 9-20 grams
    Rat pup: 21-30
    Weaned rat: 31-45
    Small rat: 46-79
    Medium rat: 80-149

So pup seems the right size for now.

Thanks but a rat pup seemed big for her. I think she was just not hungry cause of the move

Well I'm a bit new to owning the scaley babies. My little boy ate a large rat fuzzie. The new local store I found has 'large fuzzies' and 'small fuzzies'. I gave him a one of the large 'small fuzzies' last weekend for his first meal since having him and he took it like a champ. When I weighed him before that he was only 206g. After eating and passing it 3 days later he'd put on 10 whole grams! So if you're unsure you could always ask your store for a rat fuzzie on the larger side or see if they have a pup that's on the smaller side. Usually they're really accomadating about things like these and understand the odd little 'tween' stages of growing. Good rule of thumb as almost everyone says is no wider than the thickest part of the belly, their heads and necks may look super tiny but they can take a mouthful. (Bad pun intended).

I'd suggest keeping a feeding/weighing/shedding/poop log if you're not already doing it.

My bp took his first 30g rat pup when he was 239g. He's just over 400g now and taking Rat Weanlings. He'll be on 2x Weanings and then Small rats soon. ;)

Well all i have here now are mice. The rats are too big for now. I will breed rats later but I'm so happy my first two ate. The regular bp hadn't eaten for over a month.
