Pink belly

So my snake was up on my bed and fell on my hardwood floor and he's been kinda unusual lately, he doesn't move as fast anymore, his belly is pink and he's not ready to shed yet and he's been more skiddish. Any ideas?

How do you know its "not ready to shed yet"?

Maybe a parachute and helmet would help you, or you could keep a closer eye on it when out and about.

I left him for not even 2 minutes (sounds like an excuse I know) and his eyes are clear and his color is normal.

2 minutes in plenty of time for your snake to get out of sight and get in to trouble. You are not the first person to let their snake try base jumping.

The red tint to the belly is the first sign you will see. The eyes and blue phase come later. The only thing you may notice is the skin is dull but younger snakes shed more often so the skin is not always that dull when a new shed begins.

So no more picking him up and bring the humidity up till he sheds, right?

Usually. I personally don't stop dealing with them until they blue. Each snake is different and I don't know yours but that is a good rule to go by.

To OP> You gotta be careful. They're sneaky. I don't even try to play video games when I handle anymore. Gotta have 1 fully present person to keep watch or she'll end up inside the couch :O As to the shedding, it really depends on the snake. My girl has never even been grumpy in blue, so I handle a little. But leaving alone in blue and upped humidity is the norm.

How long ago did your snake fall and then get the pink belly? Could just be redness from hitting the floor much like your skin would get red. My spider morph is notorious for going pink and then not going into blue for like a week. His shedding cycle is so strange so maybe yours is just getting ready. As far as the behavior maybe he's just worked up over falling. My snake got stuck between my bed frame and wall once. There was no one home so I had to pull the bed out and let him fall to the ground. Luckily it was carpet but he was still visibly shaken up. I felt horrible but he soon calmed down.

This is easier said than done, but just don't panic. It's so easy for us animal owners to freak out over the smallest little thing and then we work ourselves up and start thinking "but.. he/she has never done THAT before!!" when really the animal is okay and just doing something different. I'm not saying ignore and move on, just keep calm and watchful. That's all. Don't panic unless there's actually something to panic over.
