First Pit! Leucistic Pine Snake
He was given to me as his owner could no longer care for him. He is 11 years old and a great calm snake. He already ate and settled right in. Any tips?

I love the expression on his face. He is really calm and sweet despite his angry face lol. He has a little nose rub it looks like but otherwise looks good for an 11 year old snake.

Absolutely gorgeous snake! I got to play with a leucistic pine at NERD a few years ago and totally fell in love with it. I really want one someday! I'm seriously envious!

Tips...as a general rule, pits don't like it too warm. Room temperature with a small heat emitter that offers a zone a few degrees warmer is all you need.

I've got a friend who used to have a leucistic florida pine snake, it was a good sized animal and just really a lot of fun. I've had bullsnakes myself and they seem to need feeding more often than my other colubrids (which means they make messes more often too, my pits could often be quite artistic with thier 'poo painting' )

I LOVE Pits and yours is GORGEOUS! I have 2 bulls and 2 kings. I agree with Mark about their temps and feeding. I keep my bulls cooler than my kings by a few degrees. Their warm sides stay around 83ish. Technically I could turn their heat off in the summer. I'm in GA so it's pretty warm here. They're pretty voracious feeders too. Yours is obviously pretty well established so I'm sure the previous keeper can que you in on his feeding schedule. I'd think yours would take a medium or large rat every 7-10 days. You could toss in a chick with that rat too and you'll have a very happy snake.Congrats on the beautiful new addition and please keep those pics coming!
