Hypo and Albino Genetics?
Hello,
I'm still fairly new to genetics of ball pythons and need some input.
I was sold a cinnamon 100% het hypo poss. Het albino male... well I'd like to prove out his possible het for albino. I was thinking if breeding him to a het albino female but kind of want something more. Is there even such a thing as hypo het albino?
Aside from that what do you think would be the best bang for my buck breeding to the male? Thats at a reasonable price haha
Thanks in advance!
Re: Hypo and Albino Genetics?
Yes there is a hypo and albino BP called a sunglow. I would try to prove if he is het albino and then I would start working on the sunglow project. Good luck hope this helped

I would pair him with an albino female so you know those offspring are at minimum 100% het albino if he doesn't prove out. If you pair him with a het albino you're looking at 50% pos het hypo 66% pos het albino... aka normals, unless the male happens to pass in the cinny gene.
If you prove him out then start working on the project.

Well, if you trusted who you bought the animal from then he should be willing to put the het part of the genetics on paper with a guarantee. He should also be able to provide pictures of the parents. Especially if you ask for something in writing. He should at the least be able to guarantee the 100% het part. The possible het is a claim he should have a decent explanation for. Although that should be in writing too. You can try and prove out the possible het but it might be better to breed back to a visual albino. IMO only. Yes there is a hypo or "faded" albino that exists. I would breed the cinnamon to another cinnamon in the hopes of producing a super cinny. The albino gene works well also in producing albino cinnamons. I think there is a 25% chance for both so a project indeed. GOOD LUCK!:gj: There are many other genes to go with to compliment that cinnamon which is a codominate gene.
