Glue on my BP's skin! Help!

Hello all,I have my BP in an AP Plastics enclosure. I put some stick sided velcro in there to hold her humidity tubes. Well, the glue on the backside of the velcro melted and the viscous liquid got on my pet's skin. Will it be alright if she just sheds it off, or should I try and remove it the best I can. Please, if anybody has had similar problems, let me know what measures you took to help the situation. Thank you,Todd

Many adhesives will soften and release when exposed to oil. I would try olive oil first.

I think it really depends on how extensive the problem is and where on the snake's body it's located. A few spots of sticky along the snake's back probably won't hurt, and it would definitely shed off when the time came. But lots of sticky...or on the belly so that it interferes with movement...or around the face or cloaca...then I'd be more worried.

The oil idea is a good one. Wet a q-tip or cotton ball in some oil and rub in the direction of the scales (not against the scales) and see if you can work it off.

One thing to keep in mind though....oil can make the scales go all loosey and they can flake off individually. This isn't dangerous for the snake....just messy. It'll sort itself out with the next shed.
