Best method for keeping frozen rats
I plan on buying in bulk, possibly from big cheese rodent factory but I realized that they do not vacuum seal the packages individually. Is there an efficient method as to storing them for a quick thawing process and to minimize the amount of times the rats get exposed to outside air? I'd like to keep them from smelling like the fridge as well (if that matters for my bp). It seems like most places ship them in bulk in 1 package. I'm willing to pay extra for the individually vacuum sealed ones if there is a vendor that does it. Any suggestions?
Re: Best method for keeping frozen rats
When I purchase mine at my local pet store, I usually buy 3 of their multi-packs. I separate them into individual ziplock baggies and put them into a freezer as quickly as possible. That way, they're ready and I only had to open them once before thawing. Good luck!

I have 6 snakes.. The last time I ordered rats, i separated the rats into weekly feedings and vacuum sealed each baggie. "Rat packs" is what I called them lol made it pretty easy to feed each week

Re: Best method for keeping frozen rats
I have kept mine with no issues for up to 3 months. Longer than that, I would consider a better method of sealing. I don't think the refrigerator smell will be an issue because it'll smell like a nice juicy rat once thawed ;) also, never had an issue with freezer burn. I keep mine in 2 grocery bags in the warmest area of the freezer. That way they stay frozen without freezer burn ^^

I don't vacuum pack individuals. I store them however they arrived, some vendors vacuum pack some don't. But once the pack is opened I just keep them in freezer bags. I toss anything that has been in the freezer for 6 months, which doesn't happen very often.
