    Keeping thawed rats warm?
Hi everyone. This is probably a stupid question but I can't figure out a better way..

I thaw my rats in a cup of hot water. I leave them in the cup for around 10 minutes. I have 8 snakes to feed, and by the time I get to around..snake number 3 or 4, the water the rats are in starts losing heat...

How do you keep the rats warm when you have to feed multiple snakes?

Are they pinky rats? Seems like they are defrosting really quickly.

Put the cup the rats are floating in right in front of a blow dryer on high heat.

Another idea, find out which snakes will take the rats at room temp. I defrost my mice and just put them in their feeding critter keepers and then put the snakes in there and then they eat them. I can't imagine the mice hold temp very long in a plain plastic container. They eat them just fine.

I put mine under a heat lamp dome to thaw, and keep warm.

If it's not too much of a trip from where you warm the rats to where you feed the snakes, you might be able to keep them warm by doing it in batches. Feed 4 snakes the still warm rats while the others are left in the hot water, then go back for them other half. Other solution is keep a hair dryer with you and hit them for a temp bump if they start getting too chilly.

The hair dryer is your friend. Heat them up by blowing each just before offering.

I use a five gallon bucket to thaw mine, the water stays warm for a while... but I also have 70 snakes and some eat 3# rabbits.
