High humidity!

I have a v70 rack that has ambient temp of 81.4f - 82.0f and a hot spot of 90f . My humidity levels are in the high 70's to 82% I was using newspaper as a substrate but the humidity remains high to me and I am concerned. I know the cypress mulch was the original problem and that was why I switched to newspaper. I really don't want to use aspen bc I have had bad experiences with it in the past. Is there something else I can use to lower the humidity?:O

Humidity in the 80's is really high, like... I have to really go out of my way to keep my frogs' humidity that high. Is it possible that your gauges may have moisture inside them or something like that? You can usually feel humidity if it's that high, so you can probably judge whether or not your equipment is accurate.
Another solution (since the newspaper definitely isn't holding moisture) may be to go over the sides and bottom of the containers with a dry towel or something to try and remove any excess moisture that might be lingering after the bedding change.

Thanks , I am using a accurite digital thermometer / hygrometer and there is no moisture or condensation on the insides of the tubs at all. I plugged in a fan in the room but humidity is still high.

My CB70s are the exact same way if I stick an accurite in them. I'm guessing most are that way, I see plenty of racks of cb70s with no ventilation holes in them with no ill effects.

I think most of the issues associated with higher humidity are related to cages that are sopping wet and not kept very clean. (I could be wrong)

Thanks, I was using a product in the tub called Kay-t small animal bedding that was left over from an earlier time. It was very little in the tub but I think that was the problem. I did what dvirginia said and wiped out the tub with a towel . That seems to have helped. I put in some fresh paper as the temporary substrate. Thanks again!

Thanks. I have holes all around the tub. Tonight I went ahead and made some of them larger.

This really interestes me as well...i changed to mulch and been having 85% percent humidity in my plastic cages (i didn't dry out the mulch before puttiong it inside) but i don't have any wet substrate or condensation so i'm not worrying. dripping is bad because it drops the temperature and makes the substrate a fertile ground for bacteria.

well i have the problem every year when i don't need to heat my house any more. but hey it's the rainy season in africa so maybe it's a good thing.
