a little worried

i just got my first snake on saturday and i had him out for a little bit today and heard him wheezing. it almost sounds like a really quiet high pitch whistle. I'm worried its an RI. He still has a bit of left over skin from the last shed around his head. (still has one eye cap and skin on the neck) So i'm going to soak him in some tepid water tomorrow and try to gently rub it off to see if that helps. otherwise I'll have to look for a vet in the area that might be able to help.
Do you guys have any ideas?
I'm going to bump up the temps to around 90 degrees to see if that helps at all.

IMO The temps(on the warm side) should generally be at 90 degrees all the time.
You mentioned some leftover shed on his head. It could be possible that there's some shed left around the nostrils that's causing the sounds. Does he have any other signs of RI? Any mucous or bubbles around the mouth area?

If you haven't previously had your snake in for a general check-up by a good reptile vet, it wouldn't hurt to do so now. Atleast that would answer your assumption of an RI problem. Good luck. :)

last time I got my bp in tepid water she submurged herself and when she came back up, she would weeze, I thought she was just gettin the water out? she likes to swim, but constantly submurges her head...does that mean anything?
