Hatchrite

I currently have my eggs on hatchrite. The incubator is set and temps vary from 86-89. I do also have a tub of water in there as well. I have seen pics of tubs and most look very wet inside. Mine does not. I have never had eggs and was caught not fully prepared(smack me later). Has any one ever used hatchrite? It says to just set incubator put eggs on hatchrite and close lid. Vent once a week. Info? Help? TIA

Are your eggs nice and plump? Did you use an airtight container?

I have never used hatchrite. I would assume it would work like vermiculite though. Bury the eggs way down into the hatchrite and use an airtight container that should get them plump again. Otherwise I see diffusers sitting there. You could swap to that method if this one is not working.

Put a little water in the tub just don't get the eggs wet.

Since you have a light diffuser (in your pic), why not just do substrateless? Works for me everytime.

I use hatchrite and have never had an issue with it. I do mix it with water so it can be squeezed into a ball without leaking water. I then half burry the eggs in it and put it in a small sterilite container with press n seal over it and then the lid on top of that. I have a 100 percent hatch rate and have never had an issue when using it this way. Yes the stuff cost a little bit but hey if it works and I can get a couple clutches out of each bag then hey I will stick with it.
The only thing that worries me is your temp fluctuations. Not sure if that swing is to much. I use a good proportional thermostat and my temps are a solid 89.
