    4 weeks missing kingsnake
So my kingsnake escaped his enclosure about 4 weeks ago. I have tried putting a rat pinkie out every Saturday in hopes he might come out and have a snack. But nothing, I've been thinking that since he was only about 14 inches long that he may not be able to last much longer.... how long should I wait until I just give up? It's kind of hard to as he was my first snake

Sorry man that sucks. Snakes can last without food a lot longer than you think.

Have you been putting and flour down between rooms to try and track his movements... and i would just set up a heat light with a hide and a pinky in the middle of a room over night entice him with some heat, food and a nice place to relax

The flour won't work as we have little kids and they don't watch where there going. Do you think if I were to set up a 10 gallon tank with a hide and some food he'd stay put inside it? I have a couple spare tanks that I could set up and spare hides as well as lights

The flour is more for at night not during the day, as for the tank it could work, at this point anything is worth trying

You'd have better luck putting the hide/heat/food on the floor than in a tank IMO. They aren't as likely to go to the extra effort of climbing in a tank.

How would you go about getting the heat? Mount a lamp somewhere and put hide under it?

    Use a heating pad.

Prepare for the worst though after a month the likelyhood of a snake that size being found is unlikely. Not that it's dead, just don't expect to find it. Also if it's a small King try killing an anole and leaving that out. It might be WAY more excited about a lizard.

Regulated heat pad. That's what I'd do. Though I would have done flour and panicked immediately
