    Not using hide
I've had my BH for about a month now and I was just curious about his behavior. When I brought him home he would stay in his hide all the time. Now he's hardly in it. He'll lay along the back of the cage or climb up and hang from one of those fake plants you can stick to the side. Actually he loves that stupid plant. Have to wonder if he's not 3/4 tree boa lol. Anyways just curious is this normal behavior or am I not doing something right. Temps are good. Shed was good. Eats like a champ. Humidity hovers around 60%. Water is changed everyday. Cage is cleaned weekly and bedding is swapped out as soon as he relieves himself. I can't think of anything else. What do you guys think?

What kind of hide is it, and where is it located in the enclosure? Is it warmer or cooler inside?

He may simply want to rest in a different temperature zone than what the hide provides. Or it may not feel particularly "hidden" if it's one of those half-logs or something else that is big and airy (relatively speaking). They really like something snug fitting, that hugs them on all sides and blocks out the light. And if they have two or more of those available in different temperature zones in their enclosure, they're far more likely to stay in the hides.

Or, he could just be living up to the ball python motto of keeping keepers confused and off balanced. :P

The hide is on the hot side of the tank. But here's the thing, he's not hiding at all. He lays out in the open or up in that plant but still out in the open. I'm new to this but he seems pretty happy with it. The cage is in a darker corner so I was thinking maybe he just doesn't feel threatened. Could be way off base here but curious what you guys think.

He will probably go back to using the hide eventually. They change their behavior patterns every few months it seems.
