What is this on my pythons tail?
Hi guys,
About 6 days ago I noticed one small patch (size of a blueberry) of dry scales on my pythons tail.
I will provide a picture at the bottom.
His humidity and husbandry are in excellent condition however I'm not too sure what this could be. He is eating fine and has been to the toilet (both 1 and 2) recently without struggle.
If I stroke the scales backwards they feel really dry. They aren't falling off/peeling/raised however. They are just rough.
Thanks,
Dan

Looks like it could be stuck shed or a poorly healed burn. (Im no expert though!)

He hasn't shed for 3 months because he went off eating over the winter (He's back eating reguarly now though).
I was told by a pet shop that it could be a burn. Maybe he burnt himself on the heat mat in there? It is covered by Aspen but perhaps he got his tail under it.

He must've burnt himself on the heat mat then. Silly boy haha.
Thanks for the help :)

You have to adjust and reassess how you are heating the enclosure. What type of heat do you provide to him?

It's a heat mat inside the vivarium (can't go underneath the viv because the floor of it is wood). It is heated to 30-32 degrees celcius (I'm british) on the hot side and about 26-28 on the cool side.

It's fairly common - it's where the top layer of the new scales got stuck to ( and peeled off with ) the skin of his last shed.
Get the humidity right for his next shed and it should be gone. :)

It only appeared 6 days (or so) ago and he hasn't shed for 3 months. So I highly doubt it would be shed? Unless it shows when he grows after his last shed?
