Did i miss my pythons locking ?
Hi on monday i put together my male bumblebee and female pastel. Yesterday i noticed the female was sitting ontop of the male most of the day but oretty sure they didnt lock. Between looking at them last night to this morning ive gone to check and the male was in a spiral shape and the female was wrapped around the outside of him with there tails both lined up with eachother but his vent was face the opposite way. They have since moved apart. But in that time gap could i have missed them lock? Its very odd her sitting perfectly around him i have never seen or heard that happen but didnt no if it was a sign of anything. Thanks for future replies!

You could have missed it quite easily. Some ball pythons can stay locked up for an entire day but most in my experience are for a much shorter time. I used to have a het albino male that I would put with several females during the year. I NEVER saw him locked up, not even once. Yet the females that I put him with produced fertile eggs every year.

So they were together from Monday to Saturday? You very well could of missed it. How big are they? It is actually pretty common for them to lay together.

They have been together since tuesday. The famale pastel is 1800grams and the male bumblebee is 780grams. Both havnt eaten in two weeks and i can still feel her follicles hence why we put them together. Better late then never!

interesting what you say Marks i always thought that shorter locks are not reliable but your experience prove the contrary. i have a female who refuse long time locks this year i afraid she doesn t go.

Haha I thought I was the only one with a sneaky male like that. My Enchi must make very quick deposits because I never seen him lock, but as you mentioned, fertile eggs every time :)
