    Potential Baby Opinions?
http://sta.sh/04s1cgikr09Ive all but talked my fiancé into this little guy but I was wanting some experienced opinions... Ive been looking around for proper prices to see if its a good deal or not. Theres so many different boas that look similar and Ive never had one before.
The person selling it says it is unsexed less than a year and $50 is this a good buy?
http://jrynn.deviantart.com/art/Boa-...253A1429380344 Heres a link to a pic in case the pic doesn't work... Im new to this so bear with me.
Ive uploaded it to my DeviantArt account to protect the seller.

Who are you buying this from? Breeders usually know the sex and exact age of their animals. 50$ for a normal is about right depending on pedigree, coloring present age etc. If you want some more variety to choose from you can check out the classified ads on www.kingsnake.com. There are hundreds of baby boas for sale and can be shipped anywhere in the country.

Its from a craigslist ad... could be from a farm for all I know... but he prefers that if I get something it be local so we can see it before we buy it.
Its colors don't seem as intense as other pictures so I was wondering if it wasn't a true red tail at all? I got some more pics I can upload too.

Honestly majority of breeders are going to get you a much higher quality animal than a random CL ad. You really want to know the sex and age of the animal. There are a ton of shady reptile transactions from CL with people knowingly selling sick animals. Someone who doesn't know the age or sex sounds like they aren't very invested in the health of the animal.

    Its definitely a red tail.

That kind of sounds like a good reason to save it... :tears: If nothing else I can find out when I take it to the vet.
Theyre also selling 2 Balls and they know the genders and ages on them... Im not really trying to defend them but maybe they got the snake from someone else who didn't know or just didn't care.
Heres the new pics they sent me:

Fifty bucks for an unsexed baby is a typical cash price for a local FB or CL sale on a common boa. Check it over for mites, RI, etc. and if the critter doesn't have any obvious health issues then I don't see a problem with doing the deal.

I know of several decent breeders who move their lower-end morph and common/normal babies on local CL and FB sales, since they know that no one is going to buy a snake where the shipping costs more than the animal.

Along with bccr and Josh I would add to be sure to ask what the temperament of the animal is. Make sure you hold the snake and get a feel for his disposition. Ask them why they are selling him also. Actually imo 50.00 is very cheap but is it cheap bc they are trying to get rid of it for less than honorable reasons? Stay in peace and not pieces. BUYER BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :salute:

Nothing wrong with getting a CLs boa or even a pet shop boa as long as you do like others have said and check to make sure its healthy(no RI, mites, stuff like that). And definitely ask its disposition although, with the right care, most will calm down even the feisty ones. My big Colombian BCI girl was gotten from a local mom and pops pets shop. They take very good care of their animals and she was about 18" when I got her. Now 2 years later and she is about 6' and puppy dog tame. I wouldn't pick up a random boa though if you are planning on breeding but as a pet, nothing wrong with it at all and you will probably be helping out the owner and most of all, the animal. And like others have said, $50 is about average.

It seems like everybody in the Kc area is asking for $100 or more. :(

Albert Clark It is odd theyre so low... They have a normal bp for 25 and a pastel for 50 but those prices are just below average for this area.

Sauzo Yes he or she is just for my personal pleasure :D

    *Update*
Went and got it a little while ago! The seller was really cool. I forgot to ask why so cheap but its mite free doesn't appear to have a ri and is active and curious! She told me she got it in January (probably from a pet shop type setting which would explain the lack of knowledge on age/gender I think)
The pics didn't do this pretty baby any justice. Way prettier in person. She also gave me the 30gallon set up for $20.
As far as the transaction went she was a great seller polite and never tried to push me into the buy or rush my decision. My guess is she was just a pet owner who needed the space back.
