    I don't understand
    Hey everyone,

this is about my Orange Ghost female, she stopped eating over 3 months ago and i am not to worried about that as when she stopped eating she was at around that 1000 gram wall, and she now still weighs 985 grams.

What I do not understand though is how is it possible she is in shed (what means she has grown, right?) while she has been off feed for over 3 months?

I am not complaining or worried but just don't understand,

    can anyone enlighten?

Sheds are not just triggered by growth
She may start eating right after the shed. Check her over carefully for any sign of mites. If she is clean this is probably just a normal shed.

After all, she was growing before the fast, and can still grow length wise during a fast by using stored fat.

Hey thanks for the fast reply:)

about that starting to eat, i am indeed hoping for that as my Super Fire stopped eating for 6 weeks and then had a shed and the feeding after the shed she ate again.

She has no mites i have already checked for that ;)

    so, thanks again.

Shedding isn't just about out-growing their skin. Mammals shed skin constantly...it's just done all over in tiny little pieces we rarely ever notice, unless you've got a bad case of dandruff :P . Skin wears out and needs to be replaced from time to time. Same with reptiles. So even if they don't seem to be "growing", a snake will still shed its skin on a regular basis, just not as often.
