    Bad angle? Very worried
I feed live and in the cage to my banana ball and today he took the first one fine. Dropped the second small rat in and it hid in the corner behind one of the plastic plants. I thought to myself I should take the plant out but Loki was already on the move and knew where it was. Long story short he got a bad angle on the rat ended up grabbing it by the ass and I had the tongs ready so he coiled and coiled and this thing didn't die after 5 minutes of squealing and it not dying Loki let it go and it crawled away. I ended up dislocating its neck and tried dangling it in front of him but he couldn't be less interested. My question is will my snake be okay? He seemed fine and the rat didn't bite him but I'm just worried because he let it go after battling it for 5 minutes. And what can I do in the future if this happens. Side note. No the rat was not too big for the snake of anything he was too small and is why I had to feed two. He could've easily killed it if he took it head first

Nothing to do. It happens. Your snake will be fine.

I had my snake do the same. She lazily struck the butt and 1/2 way coiled on the rat, this just upset the lrg rat and I had to intervene. But I killed the rat while she was still actively on it so while she balled up on the rear I finished of the rat for her and she took it, she may not have even known I did her dirty work. But I didn't want her chewed. You had tongs ready and did what I would have. If your snake didn't take it after, sometimes after a bad strike they can be intimidated or prey shy for a bit. You may try to pre kill and if they will still take fresh dead there is no risk of this happening.

Some strikes are lazy, some are impatient, and some are just right. You will find that the hits will end up at different points all over the body, and that the snake adapts.

I have had my snake kill and leave it already. So just continue on and keep the feeding schedule.

If you don't mind me asking how did you kill it? Trying to figure out a good way to do this if this happens again

Squeezed the crap out of his neck with my fingers, tried to break the neck, it was disturbing but what can you do? React. Use tongs if you have them. I use mine every feeding holding back legs claws till they stop thrashing and it keeping the snake safe and pretty, not all scared up.
