Hissing while not mad?

Do snakes ever hiss just because? I put a second half-log hide in my tank today and Ronin started exploring it. He then started rubbing his head along the top (as if trying to shed, but he's not shedding). Afterwards, he hissed and kind of contracted his body, twice. This was like 20min after i closed the tank back up, so I know it has nothing to do with me. Was he just hissing for fun?

No, he evedently (sp) doesn't like it. Or there is a scent on it he doesn't like, they don't hiss just for the fun of it.

Hmmm, what should I do then? It's just a regular solid wood half log i got from petco.

    kontron
wash it with 1 part bleach to 10 parts water
put it in the dishwasher with bleach
bake it at 250.. for a bit
always clean any new things before putting them in with your snake. ALWAYS!
