Digging?
Picked up some new ball python's the other day, including an 1800 gram female. Every day, no matter how often I've fixed it, she digs her substrate out from under her and then coils in the hole. It can't be a temperature thing, because I've caught her doing it in every possible place in her tub! So what is this wacky lady doing?

Making her self confortable

I've seriously never heard of a ball python doing that.

Mine do it, just not inside the hide, ill find craters all over there cage.. theres also the possibility of eggs, read that they like to dig out a apot and coil up in it to lay

Yeah that I read! This girl hasn't been paired up since last breeding season, so I'm really hoping it's not infertiles!

My hatchling Bairds Rat Snake does this, totally normal.

I could be wrong, but I thought I read somewhere that bp can store sperm the same way a lot of fish do? maybe if she was paired previously she's using that?
Can I get a confirmation on bp being able to store sperm? Like I said I thought I read it somewhere, could be wrong though

Re: Digging?
It's called burrowing. How big is the hide in comparison to the snake.
-
My BP and my little sunglow love to burrow in aspen. My BP mostly did it as a baby, now she pretty much just pushes aspen aside and makes a little divit in her hide and relaxes in it. My baby sunglow though will burrow in it and stretch completely out under the aspen with just her head sticking out. It is perfectly normal. Some snakes like to do it, some don't and it also depends on the substrate. As long as your temps are good and humidity is good and she has a couple hides, I wouldn't worry.

You've never heard of a BP getting comfortable? It's pretty much what they're doing 99% of the time. Finding a place to be comfortable is kind of their thing.
