Demigod
This is a male eastern garter born on July 13, 2013. An e-friend of mine offered to give him to me around the time I got Draco (and in fact is the reason why I got Draco - I got interested in keeping garters when she offered him to me) in 2013. I asked her to grow him up for me until he was big enough to handle whole pinkies, though, as after caring for Draco for a bit I found baby garters are just too tiny for me. Unfortunately, she was not able to ship him to me last summer before the weather turned cold, so I had to wait until the weather warmed up this spring. He arrived yesterday (on April 9), nice and healthy and active. He's quite a bit smaller than Draco, and the day old pinkies I have still leave a large bulge, but he's very perky and inquisitive like Draco was when I kept him on paper towels (now he mostly hides away, but still comes out every once in awhile to explore and climb his plants and even still chases my fingers - he's just not out quite as often). He's been pretty much non-stop exploring since he arrived yesterday at 11 am, I even went ahead and tried to feed him after he'd been here for almost 8-9 hours. He took the pink with no hesitation and gulped it down, and is still zooming around. In a few days when the bulge goes down and he defecates, I'll get a weight on him.
He also apparently recently picked up a habit of biting according to his previous owner, and getting the hand pics I did get gnawed on a little, but the tiny thing didn't even scratch my skin and gave up after a few tries.

Awesome little guy. Do captive garters smell as bad as wild ones when you pick them up?

Re: Demigod
If they musk you yeah they smell pretty bad. Draco's musk didn't smell at all as a baby but now that he's older it isn't pleasant.

Demigod
Well Demigod just shed yesterday. That makes 4 out of 6 snakes that have shed in the past 3 weeks. Maybe there will be pics tomorrow of his fresh new skin.

Re: Demigod
Well Demigod has been taking 2 pinks a week well, and he's gained a gram in weight, so he now weighs 20 grams.
Here are some recent photos of him, he's so much easier to handle than Draco.

Those are nice shots of him.
Glad he's coming along well.
After a thunderstorm last night, a beautiful Garter about the size of Demigod was in my garage.
Where yours has green colors on each side of the spine, this one had red and pink. The first one like this I have seen. They are usually silver in color when I see them in the yard or flower bed.
When I approached, he went into a defensive pose, almost Rattlesnake-esque. I moved away to go get my phone for a picture and he slithered away. In my garage that means disappearing into a black hole.
