HELP PLEASE I'm really worried.

I just woke up this morning to find my red tail had shed. So I opened the tub to clean it out and I found him in there with half the shed still attached but rolled up on him. It looks like its really bothering him. I've got him soaking right now to help loosen it up but is there anything else I can do? I'm worried sick...

The soak helped, Jesus I was freaked out. I lifted his tail end and he unrolled it the rest of the way himself. Lazy little butthead. Giving' me a heart attack...

Don't panic, this is very normal. Soak him in warm water for ~30 min. Just before time is up, soak a wash cloth or paper towel in warm water as well. When you remove the snake, hold the damp towel in your hand, and gently wrap around the snake. Let the snake slowly move forward through your hand. The soaking and mild friction from the towel should remove all the shed. If it doesn't, let the snake rest and try again tomorrow. Its not going to hurt him or do any permanent damage if you take care of it within a couple days. Just make sure that all of it come off.

In the future you can add a humid hide to his cage when shedding to ease the process. Hope this helps.

Hey, thanks. It was a really weird one, it was just a ring stuck around his middle. It looked like it was cutting off his circulation. I soaked him, lifted his butt, and he wiggled right out of it. Just worried me cause I've seen bad sheds, but nothing like that. I posted some pictures of it. All is well though. He's a gorgeous boy! Thank you

The humidity was good. I do have humid hides in all of my bins. It wasn't like a stuck shed, more like he'd given up wriggling out of it half way through.

Shedding is a pretty strenuous process for a snake. I would imagine tiring as well and probably stressful. Could have just been taking a break. I have some lazy boas that don't work very hard at getting the skin off.

The 2 biggest things to check after each shed are find the 2 eye caps in the shed and make sure they are there. Also check the tip of the tail on the snake itself and make sure that has come off. And yeah you might have caught him in the middle of it and taking a break.
