Humidity

Ever since we turned the head on in our house, I cannot get the humidity above 50% - 52% at the highest. I've read that it needs to be at 60%-65%. Any suggestions on what I should do? I get my new cresties tomorrow morning (1 flame, 1 beige).

If you have a screen top maybe cover some of it? Increase mistings? Just thought I'd throw those out there until the experts arrive. :)

We all read typoish around here. ;) By the way, there's an Edit button at the top right of all your posts so you can fix your typos if you want. Cresties don't need constant high humidity, and the humidity in the cage when you mist is going to be 90-100%, gradually falling back to ambient humidity. If it falls too quickly, there are a few tricks you can use.
* Buy a pothos or two and put them in there. Live plants are great at helping humidity.
* Double your misting frequency.
* Put a humidifier in the room it will be in.
* Cover some of your screen or whatever allows humidity to escape as TG said, but don't use duct tape to do it!
* Make a humid hide out of a Gladware container and sphagnum moss or similar.
* Provide a water dish for soaking -- they may not use it, but Sandiego loves the birdcage water dish I have hanging on their door. He likes to sit in it and look around.

You don't have to do all of these, but any one ought to help and any two ought to remove any concern over humidity.
