Gaining weight too fast? Also, a shedding question.
I got my male albino on March. 19 and he weighed 294g. He had a meal on March. 26 of a small rat pup. I didn't weigh him after this. I was told I needed to up his prey size, so on April. 2 I fed him a larger pup that was 21-22g and he pooped the next day. I just weighed him and he's now at 317g.
I got my female yellowbelly on March 23 and she weighed 146g. The petstore was feeding her mice but I've switched her to rats. I didn't feed her for the first time until April 2 to get her on the same schedule as my male. She hasn't pooped, but I weighed her tonight and got 172g.
It just seems like they've gained a lot, but of course I have no experience. Is this normal?
And about shedding... Neither of them have shed yet and I'm a little concerned. Should I be expecting a shed soon now that they've put on some weight?

My babies have been putting on about 100-150g a month steadily. I have an under weight rescue that gained almost 300 in a month. So no I think your fine. As long as you are feeding the correct size and consistently, then you'll be just fine.

She was getting a 10-20% rat every 3-4 days until she hit about 433g. Then I backed her off to a small rat every week and this past week, my rat guy was out of smalls so I fed her a small medium which was pretty darn big but she went into pacman mode and held the rat with a coil and forced it into her mouth. Took her awhile to get the shoulders past her mouth but once she got that done, it was smooth sailing. Think I might give her 2 weeks on this one as it was pretty darn big. I usually just feed her small rats. Like I said, she LOVES to eat. She was labeled a problem feeder but after I set her up, she went gung ho in 2 days and ate anything she could fit in her mouth and hasn't stopped
