    water dish build up
I found a nice ceramic dog water dish that I would like to use as a snake water dish but it has hard water build up on the sides. . Is there a way too remove the build up without using chemicals that would hurt the snakes? Would vinegar work? Any ideas or experiances?

For me with stuff like that, I have good success with one tablespoon of dishWASHER soap (not dish soap) dissolved in very hot water and soak over night.

Scrub with hot water if needed in the morning and rinse well with Hot water.

Cool. . I will let it soak for an hour or so in vinegar, if that doesn't work then I'll soak it over night in dishWASHER soap. Thanks, I'll let us know how turns out

Well i didn't think to take a before photo, But I put vinegar in it and then forgot about it. So a lil over 12hours later I emptied it out, no scrubbing and whala.. It's clean as new.

Is it the same for removing that weird looking yellow build up on the plastic water dishes/ramp dishes?

    Vinegar always works for me.

I'm thinking it would work on plastic as well, wouldn't hurt to try. Let us know if it works for you.

Awesome thanks! Will probably try tomorrow. If it works, I'll do the really bad ones at work ;)

So...I'm not sure what I did differently. ..but it stripped the color off of the dishes...the dark green corner dish is now light green and the Grey ramp dish is white on the edges. O.o I used hot water and a splash of vinegar then rinsed when I got home. It didn't even remove all of the stains! 😕
