Well my first ball python is in the mail. I've got a last minute question. For those of you that use moss, do you do only miss in the hide or moss on top of the substrate?

Feel free to chime in any last minute tips you may have for a first time owner. I've already got everything I should need. I followed the step by step tutorial on glass aquarium terrariums.

I have moss in every corner and inbetween things. When he's about to shed I put some in both hides. As far as misting I mist everywhere but make sure you saturate the moss nicely or it really is t doing its job

I put it throughout my set up. I use open ended hides during shed and block off the back side with soaked moss to create a humid hid without her having to lay on the moss for to long (figure it helps reduce the chance of scale rott however unlikely it is). I use sphagnum moss and soak it for 10 mins then squeeze out the Xtra water.

I have the hide that has two openings backed up against the glass with Moss blocking the rear end. I also use Moss in her other hide and kind of strewn about. I keep the Moss moist. I use coconut substrate which I think is awesome. It holds water well, and when you notice your humidity not staying up. It's time to change the substrate. (usually starts drying out around 3-4 months).
