Female laying on side a sign of fertility?
This is my 1700g female pastel. I've paired her twice and seen two hopeful locks a couple weeks ago. She's been acting perhaps more restless lately and high strung, and has been not wanting to eat as much the last few times. I annoyed her into eating twice and the last time didn't pressure her (and plan on not doing so) so she didn't eat. Then yesterday, I saw her laying in this position which I have never seen any of my snakes do before. Does this indicate she might be approaching ovulation or perhaps have already ovulated? I haven't any other signs...
She has been staying on the cold side of the tub, but I'm not positive this is a change from the past few months either. I'd like to think her bottom 1/3 is getting plumper but she's pretty stocky so it's hard to know it's not my imagination. But I haven't seen any "for sure" lumps.
I was thinking to pair them again this week just to keep everything current. ;)

Re: Female laying on side a sign of fertility?
If she is still holding to the cold side then she likely hasn't ovulated. Once they ovulate they stay almost exclusively on the hot spot. She is laying on her side in order to thermoregulate her body and perhaps developing follicles. Its a positive sign that things could be moving in the right direction. You can continue to pair her until she ovulates or refuses the male. This is a slow process and patience is key. Think 4 to 6 months from when you started pairing until she is dropping eggs if in fact she does go for you. Best of luck to you.
