    Outdoor enclosures?
I've wanted a monitor or tegu for years now. I don't know what kind to get yet lol. If/when I get one, can it be kept outdoors at all times? I live in south florida and one of the biggest best reptile businesses in Florida that happens to be an hour away keeps their monitors, tegus, and rhino iguanas outside. I'm 90% sure they leave them out during our so called "winters." So do you think I could do this? What species would you keep in south FL? There are already wild tegus here so maybe a tegu would be good.

I live in south florida myself and ive seen some with a outdoor setup for their savannah monitor , its like a pin with logs and theres almost like a doghouse for it too sleep in and it loves it so i think florida is ideal for a reptile like that to live outside due to tje climate barely changing even when its cold it warms up by mid day lol

John1982 on this forum lives in Florida, I believe at one point he said he has an outdoor enclosure for his Tegu, but not sure if it is used year round or not. The only notes I have heard repeated when considering an outdoor enclosure is make sure it is escape proof, it can't be dug out of, and that there is proper drainage so in the event of heavy raid it won't flood. I have no other input than that as I keep my Tegu indoors.
