Sarra's Crib (LOTS of pictures!)
The poor Chelonia forum doesn't get enough attention, and it's been forever since I posted anything personal, so here's an update on my darling Sarra. I've had her for just over a year now, and believe she's about three years old, but I could be off a little on her age. She already had the pyramiding going when I got her, but I think the new growth since I've had her has been less pronounced.
This is her indoor enclosure. When it finally warms up enough, she'll spend time outside in the sun during the warmest parts of the day, but until we retire and get a permanent home, this will be her primary enclosure. The first picture shows the overall setup with the lights in place...then I moved the lights out of the way to take the rest of the pictures.
And in case anyone wonders...she's an Indian star tortoise.

Behind Mira are some extra trays of grass and clover I'm growing for when she tramples/eats what is growing in the enclosure.
So...there she is! She so adorable and I love her to bits!!!

About time you post some updates ;)
I love torts there is just a major cuteness factor about them, love Dobbies too (don't want Mira to get jealous)

Yeah, they're both too cute to tolerate some days! Mira is more affectionate, though. Sarra pretty much just ignores me...unless I'm wearing my peach-colored tank top, then she runs right up to me and follows my every move so long as I'm in her line of sight. It's really funny.

I like Mira too, dobes are cool. My nephew has one that is an absolute gentle giant at over 100 pounds, a real love.
Thanks! That setup has been a labor of love, for sure. Lots of work and almost daily maintenance. But I've enjoyed it a lot more than I ever thought I would. (Always been a bit of a black thumb when it comes to plants)
Mira is at her perfect weight at about 62 pounds. We let her gain a few pounds in the winter just to help her stay warm, but pretty soon she'll have to go back on her "slimming down" routine. Poor darling already thinks she's starving to death all the time. :P She's also super friendly...loves all people and animals. Her trainer once said she was actually a labrador wearing dobie skin. :rofl:
