Super sad

We had our first clutch lay today. She laid sometime between this morning and 30 min ago I immediately called my mentor to check that we were doing everything right. and told him we would send pictures. We weighed them took a few pics and went to the incubator. I just got a call from my mentor saying that every single egg was a slug. This is so
disheartening because it is our first season and first clutch. I will post some pics and would appreciate any input or guidance..... Thanks :( BTW We had been pairing since Nov with our male lemonblast and female spider, I just figured he was a quick breeder and never saw any locks. Why would this happen?

Yes those aee slugs.

It is sad but it's one of those things everyone that is breeding deal with at a point or another, take comfort in knowing that there are things even more heartbreaking than that.

Sometimes it's just not meant to be and there is always next season don't get discouraged.

Well that's disappointing.:(

My wife has worked so hard on this, it just makes me think we screwed up or did something wrong, it really feels horrible...

The only clutch I have had so far this year was also slugs. It does suck but these things happen.

How can you tell those are "slugs"?

I know nothing about snake breeding, I was just curious how you can tell by the pictures?

Man, sorry for your loss. IMO, look at it as a learning experience and now you know how to recognize slug eggs. Also, be happy that the female passed the eggs and didn't become egg bound and needed expensive surgery or worse died due to retained eggs. Stay in peace and not pieces. :gj:

sorry to hear, my first clutch this season dropped all slugs too. happens, esp with first-time females on the lighter side. nothing you did or didn't do, completely mother nature. fatten her up for next year and stay optimistic! also helps to breed multiple girls to assure some success. its tough to invest the time and come up empty. cheers,

You can tell by the elongated shape, the dull non-white coloration and poor to no adhesion of all the slugs. Normal eggs are more oval and white and usually most stick together. Especially viable eggs. :gj:

Major bummer, sorry this happened. You can also tell as she just left them strewn about the tub and didn't stack them together and wrap around them. :tears:
