Bad Shed

Hey ,

So on the 16th my girl Roxy had a bad shed ... like really bad just fragments here and there, not humid enough don't worry i know; my parents were caring for her and forgot to humidify). Anyways, I bathed her and got some extra pieces off but i noticed the underside of her head doesn't seem to have shed off. I put a wet towel in her hot hide and she was in there and i thought it would rub off but i don't think it has. I don't want to rip at it cause well that can't be good. So i'm just wondering if it can cause problems if that area doesn't shed or should i just leave her? the problem is i tried the bathing and making her go through a towel so it pulls off left overs but for this piece i would have to pull it towards her mouth cause it has littered from under her mouth ... if that makes sense. so yeah should i be worried or should i just leave it?and if i can't leave it what do i do :-/

I would be tempted to leave it for a couple of days at least and see if it comes off on its own. Then if youre really worried you could call a vet and see if they have another suggestion. Is it interfering with her ability to eat or anything??

Maybe someone whos dealt with this before will have another idea! :)

From what I've seen, most people here recommend leaving a stuck piece of shed alone unless the unshed skin is causing a problem or creates a complete circle around the snake's body (like a ring). If it's just a piece here or there, it should come off with the next shed - assuming issues with humidity are fixed next time around! Have you read the stickied post: Bad Shed? No Problem!

I did read that one and tried the method but i think because its only the piece under her mouth it doesn't come off the same. There is no full circle so I'll leave it for now and hopefully it comes off next time. Thanks for the help :)

Leave the shed be. When you go to feed her again, it should peel itself back.
