Anyone else got a weird boa

So my little EBV Redgroup/Burke lipstick sunglow girl got here yesterday morning. I checked her out and then put her in her little cage and she started roaming all over. I have 2 RBI hide boxes in there for her figuring she would end up in 1 of them after she inspected the whole cage. Well it turns out she decided sleeping curled up next to it was a better option. So I thought ok maybe she just didn't find the openings. So I gently pick her up and show her the openings figuring she would go in just like my pied bp girl all the time. Nope, she actually seemed scared of the "big black hole" and immediately hit the reverse button. So I said alright and put her back down and let he wander and find a better spot she liked. Well this morning I go to check on her and she has pushed one hide away from the wall and moved the aspen away a little to make a hole and she was curled up there behind the hide box with her face sitting on top of her body. Crazy little snake, I figured she would feel safer inside a hide as she is small and in a new cage but nope, she decides behind the hide box is a much safer place lol.

It is a whole new experience having one. They are almost the opposite of BP's. My BCI will come when the door opens, and crawl right onto my hand. My bp will stay hide bound 85+% of the time.

Oh I know. I got a 6ft normal BCI girl as well that just cant get enough of coming out and she actually gets upset if you close her cage door and will push and look out the door lol. That's why I leave the door pretty much the whole time im home and she will just hang out either infront of the door or with her head hanging out on the litter dam. She is the sweetest snake. I hope my new sunglow has the same personality. And yeah my pied bp is a pet rock most of the time. About the only time she willingly comes out is when she wants food. She is a sweetie too if I take her out and will just sit on me while I watch tv but not nearly as interactive as my normal BCI and hopefully my new sunglow girl.

Thanks Reinz. Think Rosey my normal BCI knows there is a new "baby" in the house as she is now wanting to come out more it seems and seems to want to hang on me more lol.

Ok so an update today. I've had Vicky the sunglow for 2 days today. It was feeding day for everyone else so I figured I'd pick up a rat fuzzy and see if Vicky would eat. Well everyone else ate like the world was ending, Rosey almost hit me on top of the head when I bent over to pick her pre killed rat out of the tub. Dottie coiled up and struck at the air a few times, then when I hung the rat in her cage, she went bananas and grabbed it. Then came Vicky. Well I think she was sleeping as when I dangled the rat fuzzy at the edge of her hide box which she likes to hide behind, she turned around and struck it 2 times but missed both times. She finally got it and coiled it up and killed it. Then she let it go from her mouth but held it and sniffed it not knowing what to do next. She sat there holding the rat and sniffing around for about 20 mins. I decided its time to intervene so after I wrestled the rat from her, I grabbed it with tongs around the body and bumped her nose with the rats head and she calmly grabbed it and swallowed it. Talk about a lazy baby snake. She was being fed f/t rat pups so I think the live rat threw her off. Just glad she ate after only 2 days although she still treats her hides like they are the portals to hell and refuses to go inside :grabbed:

Out of all snakes I've experienced, boas seem to tend to be "odd". I attribute it to their big personalities. This is partly why I am a sucker for them
