    Feeding behavior
Years ago with my boa when he got done constricting his prey he would immediately start swallowing it. Ive noticed with my new BP while he eats like a champ he will always drop the f/t fuzzy rat after constricting and kind of look around the tank a bit like he's checking for threats before going on with swallowing it. Always kind of worries me that he dropped it and wont eat it. Is this pretty normal for a BP?
I find it very cool how he figures out how to get and start at the head. Pretty impressive actually how he thinks it through and figures it out.

I would say 70% of the time mine go right from the coil to swallow. Sometimes though they will uncoil and look around like your talking about before regaining intrest

Yea I'm sure in the wild the process of swallowing their prey they are very vunerable to becoming prey themselves. He strikes like a freight train so it always kinda spooks me though when he drops it like that.

I have several that eat immediately and others that take their time looking around. Probably just depends on the snake

My ball python rubs his face on the rat, strikes, coils, and begins swallowing.

My guy also strikes like a freight train, and constricts for at least 1 or 2 min. Then will drop it and look it over before taking it by the head and swallowing.
I thought that was odd, but he eats every time so i have no complaints as long as he eats.

My pied girl does that sometimes. My normal BCI girl does that pretty much every time she eats. Seems pretty normal.
