I would like to know what type of things you large snake owners are using for hides. I first cave him a carboard box large enough for him to get in and he sat on it crushing it. Im currently have half the tank with contact paper to give him some security but would like to provide him a better hide should he want to use it.

When I had my boas, I was using a box out of wood that sat perfectly in the terrarium. You can also use plastic tubs flipped upside down and holes cut into them. Off course, do not forget to sand down the sharp edges of the hole. They make tubs of all sizes perfectly suitable for a large boa...

Hmm...How about a rubbermaid trash can lid? Just cut out a bit at the edge and see how that does. Might be too low though, lol.

I just built a box out of 2x4's and plywood for my burm when i had him. Sanded everything down nice and smooth and he would either be in it or on top of it.

What supplements/dusts do you use for Cresteds?
I've used everything from a cardboard box to an oil pan ;). When i was keeping Sprocket, she had a paint pan for a water bowl and an oil drain pan as her hide. They were picked up at WalMart and never used for their intended purpose, just whatever Sprocket wanted to use them for.

I have one of those half-log hideds that I got at some pet store long ago. Apache my 4 foot male boa spends the entire day in it. It's on the hot side of his tank. it blends really well with the decor of the tank, which is cypress mulch and fake vines.

    here are a few pics:

I like the half logs and have them for my Balls, but I have yet to see one that my Boa could get in. I think a rubbermaid container will work jsut need to cut one with a hole in it.
