New enclosure

There is a lamp fixture inside and a large hole in the back for the wires. The vents have a screen mesh over them on the outside.

The dims measure 52&quot; high x 48&quot; wide x 24&quot; deep. I was planning on using reptibark (I haven't had any issues with this substrate over the last year and keeps the humidity well ). I have a hide, water dish and a bunch of accessories along with a few large pieces of driftwood (my bp loves to climb and explore).

I need to get a heat pad ( brand? Type?) Because the bottom is wood, I don't think a UTH would be appropriate here.

You really don't want a heat lamp inside the cage for a snake. They get very hot and can really cause some damage.

If I were you I would research radiant heat panels(rhp). They seem to work especially well in wood enclosures. I have a few from ProProcdtucs and you can call them and explain what you have and what you want house and they will set you up with just what you need.

I heat pad commonly referred to as a under tank heat(uth) would not be a very good option in that cage. That said there are ways to go that route if necessary.

The size of the tank is a bit much for a young snake but you can make it work. You will have to add plenty of cover and hides to make the snake feel safe and secure. The wood is a good start but you would need to add some snake level cover like plants.

Awesome. Thanks for the advice. I'll definitely look into the rhp's. I want to take a month or so to clean, set up and stabilize the temps /humidity. I will probably remove the light fixture inside so, it's not a factor. What is the best approach to making the hole in the back "escape proof"? I'll need to feed the wire for the rhp but, then I need to cover it up. Also, the glass doors on the outside are sliders. Is a display case luck the best for that type of opening? All advice welcomed and appreciated!

Do you know what the cost range is on the rhp?

Does anyone have suggestions on the hole in the back and the sliding glass doors on the front? Will a display case lock be sufficient? Also, what is the best way to sanitize and clean this cage before I start setting it up? I have preventamite for the outside but, what about inside? Bleach? Vinegar?

I have so many questions! Does anyone have any input? Input, need input!
