28qt tubs - 41qt tubs and flexwatt
I'm building a new rack that can hold two 28qt tubs on each shelf or one 41qt tub on each shelf. What size flexwatt do I need? I am using 3" with my 12qt(16qt?) tubs and it's working great. I'm thinking about 6" for the 28qt, but I know I will move up to 41qts soon and don't really want to spend the money on a new set of flexwatt. Could I use 6" for 41qts, or should I just go ahead and spend the money when the time comes?

4" won't create too little a hotspot, even with enclosed sides? I've been picturing a full grown snake trying to squeeze his whole body onto a small hotspot and that's why I'm unsure.

I have use this exact setup for 9 years now and I have females in the 2500 grams, 3000 grams and one 4000 grams and it's never been an issue.
You can ask most breeder even with open side racks such as ARS and they usually run 4 inches.

Do you put it at the end of the tub for the adult females, or along the side?
I'm ordering the 4" right now. Thank you

It runs along the back (end of the tub) on the entire width.
