URI or am I being a paranoid parent to my albino?
Hi, this is my first post here on bp.net

First off, this is my first week with my albino little boy, Romeo. I purchased the little fellow at a reptile
convention, (Repticon) this past weekend thinking a captive bred ball would be the best option for myself.
It wasn't but a few hours after holding the little dude, I noticed you could hear a tiny little cry like noise
when he was right next to your ear. I couldn't hear it otherwise. I knew that seemed kind of strange, but
then I noticed every time I startle him on accident he makes a LOUD wheezing sound like I scared the hell
out of him :( Almost like he is breathing in and out really hard, but you can literally hear it....

Now, I've noticed him stargazing in his enclosure like this for about 7-10 minutes. (link below). It's also
1:03AM where I live so obviously he is still learning the ins and outs of his habitat, esp at night.... This
weird behavior was about thirty minutes ago, followed by some roaming around for about ten minutes,
now he is curled up all cute back in his hide:oops:

Im not sure what the cry noise is but the noise when you startle it sounds like a hiss. Have your heard a snake hiss before to know that it was not that?

Thats a great pic but I don't know if you have anything to worry about. Many times if a snake is exploring and sees something they fear or believe may be food they freeze and stay that way for a good while.

I would monitor it and see if you can find any other signs. Mucus, placing head pointed up, failing to eat, yawning.

I knew they hiss, however, I actually have not heard a snake hiss before believe it or not. This is my first snake, and I
put in my best efforts to learn as much as I could about BPs before owning one. Even though I know, the basics, I still
find myself asking or wondering the answers to so many questions lol. He is definitely like having a new little baby in
the house:oops: (which always brings joy of course)!

Many people let their snake stress them out when new. Try to relax and learn your snake while letting it learn you.

It sounds as if you heard a hiss so I don't think you have to worry about a RI right now.
