I was wondering for all you people that use reptibark, and other substrates like that, do you empty out all of it? if so how long do you wait till you do it?

see im so used to repticarpet and i know once your bp soils some than you can just take that little area out and fill it w/some more

Oh I guess I could post (I initially read the post as just being reptibark), since I currently use aspen or the expandable stuff for my bp. I spot clean for roughly a month, and then I dump it all and scrub down everything. If there are places where it looks like it's staying really damp (like underneath the water dishes) I either mix that stuff around with the other dry areas of his substrate, or I replace those sections after 2 weeks.

Well when i used eco earth i used to be wierd everytime she has a BM (bowel movemt) i would clean out the whole thing and replace it with new stuff.

The urine can spread through that stuff and its hard to know if you got it all with just spot cleaning and i couldent stand thinking she was sitting in her own pee pee

I eventually switched to newspaper.........ahhh its so easy.

And if you get the unprinted newspaper its also kinda attractice, definitly more pleasing to the eye than the printed stuff.

I spot clean everytime my bp soils. This means scooping out all reptibark in that area, spraying area down w/ Virosan, then replacing w/ new bark.
Every 6 mos I totally change all reptibark w/ new and give the cage a complete scrubbing.
On a monthly basis I wipe down sides and doors w/ Virosan and spray all things inside cage and spot clean reptibark around water dish etc and just generally turn over the bark thru out the cage .
