    Help...Heating melamine enclosure!!!
I am building a melamine enclosure using the crossfire bearded dragon plans. I am brining the height down to 14" instead of 24". I'm trying to get an idea how to heat the enclosure. All the threads I have read seem to be 3+ years old. Want to get some fresh ideas. Like the idea of the RHP but a bit pricey. Just let me know any ideas you all might have. Thanks

The melamine enclosures I have for housing my boas all have RHP's in them. In theory you could cut a hole in the top of one, install mesh, and put a heat lamp on it, but the cost of bulbs over time would eventually make it a more expensive option than using an RHP. Plus you'd lose humidity a lot faster too.

Yeah I don't want to put lights on top as I will be stacking them. Thanks for your input.

I have considered heat tape. Would I put it inside enclosure with something on top of it like plexiglass and seal around it?

How about using 3/8 ply for a floor, or laminate flooring and putting the heat tape under the floor out of the cage. I am not a huge fan of floor dwelling electronics in cages

Cut out a section of the floor and screw a piece of plexiglass over the hole. Put a uth on the bottom side of the plexi. Worked fine on my crossfire.

For belly heat I would get a sealed unit like an ultratherm or intellitemp heat pad, or a kane heat mat. All will require a t-stat.

Could I put this on inside of cage with something over it?
