Don't see many people with desert BP's
I been reading a lot on this forum and there have been a lot of cool and pretty looking morphs but I haven't see any other people with a desert BP. Is that because of the breeding problems with the females? They are such a pretty morph

Yes. A lot of people don't want it in their projects due to the desert female fertility issue, so you don't see many around.

So does that make them a rare breed? I ask because of how I got mine

Not so much rare as neglected.

To a breeder a female desert is worthless. So that means there will never be a superform and any female with desert in it regardless of the other morphs it carries will also never be able to breed.

That hit on the offspring of any male deserts mean a lot of people don't want the males either. :(

They are pretty and make perfectly fine pets etc though.

They are pretty but the reason I'm wondering about the rarity was because I "rescued" her from a family I met at NARBC in Arlington and she looks like almost identical to the pastel I was looking at. Before they approached me about their desert they were trying to get rid of

I have a Pastel Tiger (Desert, Enchi) . There are a few places online that sell deserts. I've seen them sell for about $179.00. I've also seen the female Deserts, and multi gene female Deserts on Kingsnake and other sites for $250 up to $2k. I do plan to breed mine as I want a Tiger Cat, and a Metallica. If I do make a pretty pet, then so be it, I make a pretty pet. I purchased mine from a breeder in Cali about 4 months ago and couldn't be more thrilled!

I have a desert pinstripe, I'm crazy about him. I've been having trouble posting pics with my iPad though. I just keep for pleasure, not breeding. I might have a small pic in my profile.

Here's a picture of my desert I want to know what type of desert she is. The previous owners were a little less than helpful. All I know is she is a desert and eats f/t and like to type on my phone I find out as I type this
